Today the Kevin Simon boutique, in the heart of Venice California offers innovative design, world class service and selection of Kevin’s latest designs.
As a child Kevin was famous in her family for changing her clothing at least six times a day. Artistically inclined all her life, painting was a full time hobby for Kevin during her teenage years. When she wasn’t painting large oil canvas’s she was sewing her early creations for her brothers and sister. Encouraged by requests for the clothing off her back while on a family vacation Kevin Simon launched a small mail order business in her hometown, Buffalo New York at the early age of 18.
The company moved to Los Angeles in 1990. Kevin soon expanded her offering to include custom Bridal and men’s wear. The company also offered wholesale to small boutiques across the United States, Canada , France and Japan. From the beginning Kevin specialized in clothing that was down to earth, whimsical and beautiful. "I like to think my clothing has a history to it, even when they seem modern. I always imagine a 16th century person of impeccable taste choosing from my collections if they were living today", says Kevin.
The airy boutique on Abbot Kinney Boulevard is a reflection of her artistic esthetic and houses examples of her many lines of clothing. Rachel Simon and Johanna Simon, (Kevin’s sister and mother) joined the company soon after it’s West coast relocation. Each share in the designing and growth of the company as it celebrates it’s fifteen year anniversary 2005. Kevin lives and works in Venice not far from the boutique.
